This is a picture of the swinging arm that's going to hold the weights and the sling shot. We measured and shortened the 8ft wood to a reasonable height that matched the frame of the trebuchet. Also made a circular hole in order to connect it to the frame through the PVC pipe. Next time, we'll test the height and figure out a way to attach the weights and insert the swinging arm to the frame.

Catapult – Tiago, Sarah, Robert
Our catapult has almost neared completion. The A-Frame that we built last semester is entirely finished, but we plan on adding a couple of brackets to connect two sections of the 'A' on the A-Frame to the base. This is probably an unnecessary precaution, but we'd like to be assured of the catapult's stability. Moving forward, we plan on adding a longish 2x4 to the base of our A-Frame in order to fill the role of the catapult arm. The arm will most likely by secured to the base of the A-Frame using a large hinge, but we have also discussed the possibility of using some sort of axle mechanism. We think that using a hinge could significantly prohibit the range of motion of our arm and we aren't sure whether the hinge would stay bolted down upon launching.
The last steps would be to add a cupping mechanism for the soccer ball and something to hook the bungie chords to.
